While recent media coverage of the health sector has highlighted the staff shortages within the profession, and long wait times for patients; we’ve been fortunate to have been involved at a different level.
Involvement in Construction
Over the last 35 years, we’re proud to have been involved in a number of large construction projects, that have provided much needed facilities to our local communities.
Some examples include:
· Kathleen Kilgour Centre – the centre offers world-class radiation treatment and expertise to public and privately funded patients in the Bay of Plenty.
· Whakatane, Tauranga and Rotorua Hospitals – hospitals are the central, critical hub providing medical and surgical treatment and nursing care for those injured or ill.
Current Project
We’re currently working on the new Blood Donor Centre at 98 Cameron Road, Tauranga. This new purpose build centre will be larger than the existing centre and will have improved facilities for both donors and staff. In addition to improved parking, charging for electric vehicles and bicycle parking, the new centre will allow the service to grow and meet future needs. This includes the ability to add additional beds on the donor floor and increase collections as the demand for blood and plasma continues to grow both locally and nationally.
And from our side, this building has a pipe column steel structure design and will see us use nearly 300 tonne of steel!
Impact on the Community
Working on projects that provide key services to our communities, like in the health sector, is really important to us. While it’s a construction project we are working on, the team has a great sense of pride, knowing what they are part of creating is going to positively impact many people’s lives. There’s also a feel-good factor, when the building has been completed and you drive by, knowing you’ve helped shape the growth of your community.
We work on projects across a number of different sectors. To learn more about the type of sectors we’re involved in and some of the projects we’ve been part of. go to https://www.jensensteel.co.nz/careers
